Privacy Policy
Effective · September 13, 2026
This policy explains what personal information you share with Petit Stay, why we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you. We process information in accordance with applicable law. Any changes to this policy will be posted on the site with their effective date.
What we process, and why
Sign-up and account: name, email address, password (stored in a form that cannot be read back), phone number (optional), and whether you are a parent or a sitter. Used to create your account, sign you in, and send notices about your requests.
Sitter profile: the introduction, photo, languages, hourly rate, and availability that a sitter writes themselves. Used to publish the profile so parents can view it and send requests. A profile is published only after the sitter agrees to publication.
Interest registration: your email address and, if you choose, a name or nickname, planned visit period, country/city, children's age range and number, preferred sitter language, biggest concern, and a message. Used, with your consent, to email you updates as we prepare.
Care requests: date and time, each child's name, age, and notes, and an emergency contact (name, phone, relationship). Used to deliver the request to the sitter you chose, prepare the care, and reach you in an emergency. Actual care requests that require a child's personal information (children under 14) will not open until a procedure to confirm the legal guardian's consent is in place. Once requests open, the child information needed will be processed under that procedure.
Care records and reviews: the care log a sitter writes after a session, and the rating and review a parent leaves. Used for confirmation between the parties and to improve the service.
Inquiries: the email address and message you send when you contact us. Used to reply and resolve the matter.
We do not collect or store payment information such as card numbers at this time. If online payment opens, we will update this policy first with the items needed.
How long we keep it, and how we delete it
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was processed. When it is no longer needed because an account is closed, consent is withdrawn, or the purpose has been fulfilled, we destroy it without undue delay.
Interest-registration information is destroyed at the earliest of: 12 months after submission; completion of a deletion or consent-withdrawal request; or 3 months after we send notice that the full service has launched. These periods are Petit Stay's current operating policy, not statutory retention periods.
Where another law requires records to be kept for a specified period — such as records relating to transactions or consumer complaints under e-commerce law — we keep that information separately for the required period and use it only for that purpose.
Electronic information is deleted in a manner designed to prevent recovery. Any paper records are shredded or otherwise securely destroyed.
Who we share it with, and who processes it for us
To sitters: when a parent sends a request, the chosen sitter can first see only an overview such as the date, time, and parent's name. The child's name, age, care notes, and emergency contact are shown to that sitter only after the sitter accepts. Detailed information from a request that is declined or cancelled before acceptance is not shown.
To parents: sitter-profile information that the sitter has agreed to make public — introduction, photo, languages, hourly rate, and availability — is shown to parents.
We do not otherwise disclose personal information to third parties unless the law permits it or you have separately agreed.
We use the following providers to operate the service, and personal information may be transferred overseas when the relevant feature is used.
- Supabase, Inc. (privacy@supabase.io): account authentication and service-database processing. Information described for each feature in this policy is transmitted over the internet and stored in Tokyo, Japan, when the service is used.
- Vercel Inc. (privacy@vercel.com): website hosting, server processing, and access logs. Request and access information needed to use the site may be transferred over the internet to the United States when the site is used.
- Plus Five Five, Inc. (Resend, privacy@resend.com): email processing when the interest-registration notification feature is used. The email address and input details needed for that notification may be transferred over the internet to the United States.
- Cloudinary Ltd. or the applicable contracting affiliate (privacy@cloudinary.com): image storage and transfer when a sitter uses the profile-photo upload feature. Uploaded images and related transmission information may be transferred over the internet to Cloudinary processing regions it publicly identifies, including the United States and EU.
Each provider processes information to deliver the relevant feature and support service operations and security. Retention follows this policy and the period necessary under the applicable service contract. To object to an overseas transfer, email hello@petit-stay.com; a feature that requires that transfer may then be unavailable to you.
Your rights, and parents' rights
You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of processing of your personal information, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@petit-stay.com; after verifying your identity, we'll handle the request within the period required by law.
A parent or other legal representative may exercise these rights on behalf of a child. Personal information of a child under 14 is processed with the legal representative's consent, and that consent may be withdrawn at any time.
Information that must be retained by law may remain stored for the required period even after a deletion request. If that applies, we'll explain why.
Automatically collected information and safeguards
Cookies: we use only authentication cookies needed to keep you signed in and a language-preference cookie (1 year). We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent sign-in from staying active.
Access logs: our hosting service may automatically record information such as access time, IP address, and browser information to operate the service securely.
Safeguards: personal information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), access is restricted, and passwords are stored in a non-plain-text form. Operator access is limited to what is necessary. If an issue is identified, we'll take the steps and provide the notices required by applicable law.
Web fonts used by the site are served from this site’s own address. Connection information from font requests is handled as described in the access logs paragraph above.
